Say no to the wrong use of medicines

As part of efforts to promote responsible medicine use and raise awareness about antimicrobial resistance (AMR), Sam-Ace Ltd is inviting primary school pupils across Osun State to participate in an essay competition.

Antimicrobial resistance is a growing public health concern that occurs when microorganisms such as bacteria develop the ability to survive medicines designed to kill them. The misuse and overuse of antibiotics contribute to this problem, making infections increasingly difficult to treat.

Building awareness about responsible medicine use should begin early. Through this initiative, we hope to encourage young learners to understand why medicines, particularly antibiotics, must be used correctly and only when prescribed by qualified healthcare professionals.

How can I help prevent antimicrobial resistance?

We invite pupils to share their ideas, creativity and understanding by writing an essay on the topic: “How Can I Help Prevent Antimicrobial Resistance?”

This competition provides an opportunity for children to learn, express their thoughts and become young advocates for responsible medicine use within their homes, schools and communities.

Competition prizes

Outstanding entries will receive the following cash prizes: First Prize ₦50,000; Second Prize ₦30,000; Third Prize ₦15,000. Winners will also enjoy an exclusive tour of the Sam-Ace pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.

Who can participate?

The competition is open to primary school pupils in participating schools across Osun State. Each pupil may submit one original, handwritten essay. Entries must include the pupil’s name, school name and headteacher’s name.

How to participate

Prepare an essay on the stated topic and submit it through the designated Google Form by 24 November 2026. Participants are encouraged to present original ideas in their own words, demonstrating their understanding of how children can contribute to preventing antimicrobial resistance.

By engaging young minds today, we can inspire a generation that understands the importance of responsible medicine use. Your voice matters. Your ideas can make a difference. Join us in saying NO to the wrong use of medicines.
