The Vision Behind Sam-Ace
Dr Sam Olawoye is the visionary founder of Sam-Ace Limited. A distinguished pharmacy graduate, he has dedicated over 40 years to improving pharmaceutical access across Nigeria and the broader African continent.
He holds a PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, and is a Fellow of the West African Post Graduate College of Pharmacy — a testament to his deep commitment to academic and professional excellence in pharmaceutical sciences.
Starting with a single retail pharmacy in Kano in 1991, Dr Olawoye's ambition to manufacture quality, affordable medicines led to the establishment of the Sam-Ace manufacturing arm in 2003. Today, his company produces NAFDAC-registered, WHO-listed essential medicines that serve patients across Nigeria.

Manufacturing Begins
Entered pharmaceutical manufacturing, marking a pivotal shift from retail to becoming a quality medicine producer.
NAFDAC Registration
Received NAFDAC registration for ORS®, the Oral Rehydration Salt product that became a cornerstone of the portfolio.
Antibiotic Expansion
Expanded into dry syrup beta lactam antibiotics. Registered ASTAPICIN®, ASTARCLOX®, and ASTAMOCIL® — broadening access to essential medicines.
Land Acquisition
Acquired land in Osun State, Nigeria, to support ambitious plans for a modern, GMP-compliant manufacturing facility.
Osun State HQ
Relocated and commenced operations at Km 14, Gbongan-Ibadan Road, Akoda-Ede, Osun State — establishing the current manufacturing hub.
Capsule Line Launch
Added a dedicated capsule production line; registered ASTARCLOX® and ASTAMOCIL® capsule formulations for adult patients.
Tablet Line & ASTAMENTIN®
Added a tablet manufacturing line and registered ASTAMENTIN® in both dry syrup and tablet forms, completing the pediatric and adult antibacterial portfolio.
New Facility Land
Acquired additional land to accommodate a state-of-the-art beta lactam antibiotic manufacturing facility to meet growing sub-Saharan African demand.
Strategic Partnership
Entered a landmark partnership agreement with a consortium of investors and experts in pharmaceutical materials, equipment procurement, logistics, and sales.
New Facility Operational
Completed construction and commenced full operations at the new beta lactam antibiotics facility — a milestone cementing Sam-Ace's position as a leading Nigerian pharma manufacturer.
