ASTAMENTIN  is a broad spectrum antibiotics formulation of Ampicillin and penicillinase stable Cloxacillin.
Astamentin exhibits bacterial activity against a wide range of gram-positive organism such as Staphylococci (including penicillinase producing strains). Streptococci,Pneumoniae,Clostridia, B.anthrax and most strain of Enterococcus and gram-negative organism such as H.Influenza, Brucella melitenis, Brucella abortus,Proteus mirabilis, Salmonella, E.coil and Neisseria species
Respiratory tract infections, Ear, Nose and Throat infections, Urinary Tract infections, Gastro-intestinal infections, Skin and soft tissue infections. Pelvic infections. Septicaemia. Endocarditis. Orthopaedic infections
Adninister ½-1 hour before meals
CHILDREN: Up to 2 years-½ teaspoons (2.5ml) every 6 hours
CHILDREN: 2-6 years: 1 teaspoon (5ml) every 6 hours
CHILDREN: 6 to 12 years: 1-2 teaspoonfuls (5-10ml) every 6 hours or as directed by the physician
To make 100ml suspension, add 90ml of boiled water invert and shake the bottle until all powder is dispersed. Alternatively, gradually pour boiled and cooled water into the bottle. Shake well and slowly add more water up to the mark in the bottle.
The dry powder should be stored below 30°C. The suspension should be used within 7 days of preparation and stored in a cool place preferably in a refrigerator at 2-8°C.
